Thoughts on the Menu of Sports

At least to start there seems to be some support for having shorter seasons. Herman's suggestion of having Season I end with the all-star game is not bad, except I worry about too much of a gap between the last major sports and the break. Also, Tennis and Golf would be cut in half as well. I think that can be remedied by adding non-majors to the scorable events...maybe even have a rule that every competition is worth something.

These are the sports that I think have the most potential if we assume that the season ends around the all-star break:
Men's College Basketball
NHL
NBA
UEFA
Women's Tennis (Expanded)
PGA (Expanded)

We at least one whacked out sport like senior's sri lankan cricket or we could each draft a SPDR and get points for market flucuations.

Brian on Board and Sheets Almost Done

Brian Golden is now on board with our UFL league. This is key because Brian sort of invented the whole concept and actually knows how excel works. He joined on the condition that he not have to be in charge, however, his mere presence makes success far more likely.

As I said on the DA ZOOONNNEEE board we need to figure out which sports will be covered and also how long our season will last. Leave comments as you join as to your personal preferences.

UFL Announcement

As a number of you are aware I have committed to getting an ultimate fantasy league going by the time the ffl playoffs end. For those who don't know, in Ultimate you draft whole teams from a cross-section of sports instead of individual players from a single sport. Points accumulate based on wins and losses, as well as season milestones, like winning championships. The sports included are up to the particiapants. The full season I competed in included: 1 AL, 1 NL, 1 NBA E, 1 NBA W, 1 NFC, 1 AFC, 2 BCS CFB and CBB, 1 non-BCS CFB and CBB, 1 NHL, 1 Mens Tennis player, 1 mens Golfer, 1 little league world series division, an EPL team and 1 NASCAR.
I'm also considering making the season only 6 months long instead of a full year...maybe ending with the NBA finals or the champions league final and then having season two be comprised of the footbal and baseball time of year sports.

Just post your email address as a comment. Then I can add you as a user and you can post freely for communication and smack talking purposes. I figure the draft will be a combo of live in person and AIM for anyone not in the Lou. I should have the spread sheets any day now and then we can set all the rules.
From now on all UFL communication will flow through the blog so as to preserve DAAA ZOOOONNNEEE's purity. Hope you all at least give it a try. It doesn't require the week by week effort of FFB, but keeps you interested in wins and losses year round.
