The standings are updated through tennis this afternoon. So far, the only player to fall is Brian's Mauresmo, though Venus, Ivanovic, and Sharapova all ran into a few problems here and there.
In the Giro, "Campbell's" Leiphammer stumbled today leaving it a two man race between my Menchov and Lyons's Di Luca. The tour ends this weekend.
The NBA playoffs remain very interesting. Pat has the best team, but it's increasingly clear that his Cavs match up terribly with "Campbell's" Magic. If Ben's Lakers get a win tonight, he'll be favored to move into a strong second place.
Champion's League final on Wednesday. Lyons v. Matt.
Jose Canseco's Japanese mixed martial arts fight is happening sometime well after midnight tonight, airing on HD Net. Do not be surprised to wake up and read he's in the hospital. Or maybe the fight will be fixed.
Finally, looking for something to do while watching the Cavs and Magic last night, I messed around with the spreadsheet and came up with a page ranking the value of every real-life team so far. Basically, I used a spreadsheet to figure out how many points each team has earned in all the UFL sports so far, then calculated the baseline for each sport (the value of the 10th ranked team since there are 10 UFL members), and calculated every team's value over that baseline. As one would expect, the Tar Heels are first at this point being the only team to win a major championship. Whoever wins the NBA title should vault into first place comfortably. You can view that here.
The "absolute golf" tab is done only because it turns out that golf follows a different model than the other sports. Where it's almost certain that UFL members will identify the 10 or so best teams in the NBA, NCAA, or even the 10 best female tennis players , no one could predict that Angel Cabrera and Ian Poulter would rack up comparable points to Tiger and Mickelson. Consequently I felt it offered a better estimate of their value to compare golfers to the 10th best reasonably prominent player rather than the 10th best overall. That's where everyone is ranked. The absolute column is what you get if assume perfect knowledge at the draft and calculate their value from the 10th best overall.
Every sport. All year. One league.
