I've been on hiatus from the interwebs the last few days (road trip from Southern California to St. Louis with my dad - luckily we swerved to avoid getting anywhere near Bussmann). Here's a few things I've been thinking about.
First, Bussmann, you filthy cocksucker, I'm sorry I called you mean. Although you have always been a degenerate scumbag, I can't really recall anything mean you ever did, so I take that back.
Second, Mark, I really do appreciate all the work you are putting into this league. Seriously - it is a good concept and although there are a few kinks to be ironed out I am impressed with the execution of this inaugural season so far. I just hope you don't burn yourself out on this by getting too worked up, especially when it comes to bullshit like how the PGA determines the cut. So I'm glad to see there hasn't been a post today - I hope you are doing something fun and relaxing that isn't related to fantasy sports. I'm also glad to see the Celtics lost so we can put that to rest...
Third, I want to reiterate my point about drafting FFL teams. It makes a lot of sense to me that we should wait until the FFL draft to draft those teams. That would allow us to know what we are drafting, and also would allow us to set a waiver order to make it a bit more fair. Also it would be nice to see if we can work in Dan and/or Brian to that league (I wouldn't be surprised if, say, Drew or Graham weren't back next year, or Campbell wouldn't commit to paying) to round things out, or perhaps create a separate FFL league to correspond with the owners in this league. So my vote is to wait until august to reconsider the FFL draft. People obviously aren't paying attention right now anyway.
Fourth, while we're on the subject of FFL, I am in St. Louis now so I will be collecting my FFL winnings, anybody who hasn't paid yet can meet me at a bar so you can watch me drink my prize money. Mark, I'll be in touch.
Fifth, like I said I'm in town and will be around for a bit, anybody who is here and wants to hang out, let me know... Dan and Brian, I would like to meet you if you guys are around so I can start insulting you guys appropriately - I'm sure you must be pretty pathetic if you associate with the kind of people I associate with, but I like to be able to personalize my put-downs (notice how I called Bussmann a 'filthy cocksucker' instead of using a generic insult).
Finally - WE FORGOT TO DRAFT FOR NASCAR AND FISHING. Let me know when we can do that, I propose a live online draft tuesday morning at 4:30AM.
Every sport. All year. One league.

Shot Tracker is Awesome
I'm not sure if this link will bring up the custom set of golfers I set up or not on pga.com. However, stat tracker is really cool. Shot by shot progress on your golfer in real time with great graphics and extremely accurate stats. Zig, if you haven't been paying attention your boy is back above the cut line.
Too Mad to Sleep
Scallet, I think the PGA would have updated the rule book by now if that golf blog from a year ago was accurate...look it up. I quote the pga, so I expect a source of similar caliber before I admit defeat.
Regardless, I was going to go to sleep, but your insolence has made me just update the scores now so I can sleep in in the morning when I am not so full of UFL fury.
Standings
Double check these. I just realized I was using a printout from 2-3-09...no impact as far as I can see except that Scallet dropped Utah, who won tonight. Let me know though, if I missed something.

This is cool. Click the title and it will take you directly to the current standing with our guys highlighted at top under the heading "My Leaderboard".
Buick Open Leader Board
Half the field has teed off. Here is a quick link to the leader board so you can check in on your boys.
Here comes golf
Standings
Hmmm...Matt picked up Houston and they lost...Dan picked up Portland and they lost...dan picked up VCU and they lost...Bussman declared earlier today that the Suns would commence a winning streak...and they lost. Not a lot of basketball picking talent in this league. Oh, except for Team conatus which is still perfect in NBA BCS bball and nbcsbball. Dan. Of course you would complain that the Buick open is not well attended. Michelson is there! Where oh where is Tiger? Webb Simpson. You will know his name come Sunday afternoon.

Buick Open Reminder
The Buick Open starts tomorrow. I may have said in some post that it starts on the 15th. No idea how I made that mistake. Anyway it starts tomorrow. Here is the start list. Make sure your golfer is actually playing. You have been warned.
New Standings
Standings
1. Born Again
2. B&G
3. Pineapple
4. BenBounce
5. Otis
6. 2 Cats
7. Conatus
7. Team A
9. E.H. Schnuck
10. Da Zone Lives
I was a little worried about the Celtics winning streak ending last night, but they came through with a huge win. That's what champions do.
Patty's Devils lost to Bussman's Capitals.
Ziggy needs to pray for Chris Paul's groin.
Yes, indeed, bring on the Buik Open!

Scores...Michigan State Lost
Standings
Not much happened yesterday, with ye lode super bowl and all. Still, Michigan State managed to lose to an unranked team. Boston, Orlando and Cleveland all won, so the East stays tightish. Lots of basketball games tonight. Bruins have won a few in a row.

Many things.
Standings
I'll write more tomorrow, but Matt won the month of January. Another Tennis tourney (worth 20 fewer points) and a golf tourney (Buick open) come in Feb., so the standings can shift quick.
Good to have Brian back. Just in the nick of time too, as Drake lost by almost 30 tonight.
Bussman's slide begins, as I predicted. St. Mary's dropped their second game this week. Tip: If you want to check for a St. Mary's score next week on ESPN, you have to change the tab from "top 25" to "all".
Patty, your post made me bust out laughing. Mauresmo is very much not a woman and Notre Dame is the most non non-BCS team in the college football, but these are the kinds of paradox that Brian Golden has built a life around.
Scallet got a win last night from Utah...but, it must sting a bit that they lost tonight to Portland.
Ben is chugging along. I think Michigan St. plays Penn St. tomorrow afternoon in a Super Bowl warm-up. Must win game if you want to stay in the hunt for a 2 seed.
Campbell can do what he wants. I'm not touching HIS team. If Ben wants to consult with him and give him equal credit for the success of team BenBounce, then so be it. This ain't kindergarten and there's no recognized "buddy" system. Campbell can start playing his team anytime he wants. I'm not even going to dignify the "paying campbell" hypotheticals with any thought. I could have an aneurysm at any moment and I would never want my last thought to involve Campbell and money.
Ziggy is quiet today, but that is because he has a big deal going. Hope it went well.
Patty is chugging along, but the Bosac jump has to be driving home the importance of winning championships.
Herman is trying. He scored eight hard earned points in the last 30 hours. Herman is a worker, and no one can deny him his dignity...except...
I'm feeling comfortable. If I were way out ahead right now everyone would quit. I can wait till April 1 to take a commanding lead.
My mistake...I thought I would just go to bed, but I ended up typing everything I wanted to say...I'll probably post more tomorrow anyway.
Super Bowl at Troy's tomorrow! Everyone be there! That includes you Herman...we're watching you...
