Way to kick off the regular season with our first post Bussman! It is nice to see that your inexplicable early round picks were not a sign that you gave up before we began.
Here's how we'll finish: We will go sport by sport and only the people who do not have that sport filled will pick. Post all picks as comments on this post. When it is your turn to pick in a category make your pick and then end it with "(next guy in line) is on the clock". For example, Herman will make his pick for the AFC and then say, "Bussman is on the clock."
Finally, I figure I made a couple errors. I figure this because not everyone has the same number of open slots. (I'm pretty sure I gave Ben's cyclist to Herman, so check that first). Anyway, I can fix any problems.
On with the Draft!

ReplyDeleteCampbell selects Panama
Ben is on the clock.
lyons- my early round picks were straight strategy, everybody knows that the sw conference of the llwc is the most dominant, they are mostly from texas and they are big and throw lefty (something little leaguers aren't accustomed to). i shooting to win,and everybody knows you are probably going to win (the random number generator strikes again, maybe you should change the name of your team to "the Random umber Generators"), but i making a push, and i am going to see it through.
ReplyDeleteAFC - Denver broncos - bussman on the clock
ReplyDeleteCFB NBCS - Fresno State - Lyons on the clock
I'll take the Utah Jazz, closing up the NBA.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the Chicago White Sox, putting Campbell on the clock in the AL.
Also, it's me and not Matt who needs the pick in the non-BCS college bball slot.
lyons, i did not realize that the celtics and xavier played games before 10 am this morning. i thought scoring started with today's games.
ReplyDeleteanother ? what is the add/drop deadline each week? i.e., lineups for the week set and locked by when? monday 11am? or are we allowed to use our 2 transactions at any point during a week.
UEFA- Arsenal - Zig is on the clock
ReplyDeleteCycling- You had put my pick under Hermann. I think he picked someone else shortly after.
Also- I had selected Utah State for Non BCS CBB previously
WBC- Guess I'll take Canada- Complete
afc- Jets closed
ReplyDeletenfc- Bucs closed
-bussmann
Non-BCS Drake
ReplyDeleteMatt is on the clock.
Women's Tennis: Svetlana Kuznetsova (if she hasn't been taken already)
Complete.
cycling- mark cavendish
ReplyDelete-bussmann
I think I'm the last non-BCS CBB, so I'll close it out with BYU.
ReplyDeleteBrian: Svetlana is taken
ReplyDeleteHerman: Scoring started yesterday at about noon when I posted the baseline records for the sports currently in season. Arbitrary, but won't make a huge difference in the end.
Everyone: I entered scoring events for yesterday, but there is some sort of glitch that is causing the sheet to not add properly. Should be fixed soon.
Campbell AL pick: Texas
Lyons AL: pick Oakland
Brian is on cycling clock
ReplyDeleteI think I got skipped...again.... Dare I say Re-Draft
ReplyDeleteI will take the FLA Marlins MLB End
Zig: Way ahead of you. Saw your message last night and gave you the Marlins already.
ReplyDelete(side note - this appears to have gone to shit as well. bussmann butted in the cycling line and thus deserves to be sodomized with a rusty handlebar.)
ReplyDeleteNHL: Canadiens. Campbell on the clock.
Cycling: Daniele Bennati. Which puts Brian on the clock since cheater-cheater-poopie-eater bussmann already skipped me.
Also, Lyons I believe you are on the clock for NBCS CFB. Hurry up and pick or I will do like bussmann and steal your spot.
Cambell NHL: NY Rangers
ReplyDeleteLyons: Phili Flyers
Dan: Have you already picked on? if not you are on the clock for NHL.
Lyons: Tulsa
Bosac on the NBCSFB clock.
Patrick of course has the first pick in the zone division and has not responded to emails or text messages begging for his pick...however, that category doesn't start scoring for a while.
NBCSFB: TCU! Category closed.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I suggest we hold off on drafting for DA ZONE teams. As Mark noted, that doesn't start scoring for many months so we have time to be reasonable. We should discuss a couple of possibilities. For example, we could wait until after DA ZONE's draft to pick teams - I think that would be helpful especially for the guys who haven't been in the league and might otherwise be tempted to pick Al's or Mark's team on the basis of Mark's insane power rankings. We could also consider having the draft order for DA ZONE teams be reset at that time in reverse order of UFL standings - basically a waiver wire/equalizer. (And we could even rethink the utterly absurd prohibition on drafting one's own team. That's clearly just sour grapes because you all wanted to own my Gangsters... I mean, it is kinda funny at least that nobody said anything about it until I tried to draft...)
1. College Basketball (BCS) - Texas
ReplyDelete2. Zone division - Bosac (I would have taken Bean if I knew that he wouldn't autodraft)
Ziggy - have you picked a golfer?
Also, I do not think that I have selected an NHL team yet. Should I pick one?
Sorry - Brian is on the clock for the Zone division
ReplyDeletePatty: Yes, pick a NHL team.
ReplyDeleteZiggy sent me the rest of his picks to insert as his tturn comes.
PGA: Ernie els
LLWS: West
UEFA: Sporting Lisbon
ON THE CLOCK:
Wtennis-Brian
Cycling-Brian
Da Zone-Brian
LLWS-Ben
New Jersey Devils
ReplyDeleteCamilo Vilegas - golf
Let me know when I am up on a cycler
lyons, i picked cameron wurf last night during the draft for my cyclist. bussman confirmed that cameron wurf is a real person and in fact a cycler. let me know if the wurf pick stands or if I have to redo my cycling pick
ReplyDeleteJust a headsup, but BYU should be on the spreadsheet for my non-bcs bball team.
ReplyDeleteMy question is the same as Hermann's. When can you use your 2 transactions? It seems like it should be a set day and time. Otherwise, people could just add teams to get more games per week. For example, your team could play on Monday, then you drop them for a team that has a Tuesday and Thursday game exc. Is it too late to do one transaction per week? It may be a little much to have 2/week for a whole year. People will get burned out and stop trying.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what happens when the NCAA tournament/playoffs start? Can you add after your team is eliminated. That sounds unfair and would reward the person whose team goes out first (especially in later rounds). Especially if there are only one or two Non BCS teams left in the tournament.
Yeah, it seems like seasons should definitely lock at some point. Maybe the ends of the regular seasons in the four major sports, before bowl invitations around Thanksgiving in college football (this seems especially rife for abuse), before conference tournaments in college basketball, and during golf and tennis events. Oh and it seems that the UEFA, LLWS, and WBC should all lock before they get started.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't mind two moves a week, but maybe there should be a rule that they can't be in the same sport.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the 2 transactions rule, and it should not matter if it is in the same sport. It adds a lot of strategery. Do you drop a team like UNC to pick up more weekly wins or do you stick with them in hopes of winning the Championship? Okay, that's a no brainer. But there are some closer calls.
ReplyDeleteOr the dilemma I faced today: Drop Oklahoma to add some points, but is that worth Patty snatching up my title contender?
ReplyDeleteLLWS- Asia Pacific- Brian is on the clock
ReplyDeleteTime to skip Brian?
ReplyDeleteI am going to make two choices here, just in case one is taken:
ReplyDeleteLLWS - 1. West
2. Midwest
3. Great Lakes
4. Mid-Atlantic
WTA - 1. Amelie Mauresmo
2. Zheng Jie
DA ZONE & Cycling - Please just pick for me the top rated played off Lyons' preseason rankings. I have 0% insight in to either of these leagues.
Draft is real close to finished now:
ReplyDeleteZONE ORDER
3. Herman
4. Dan
5. Matt
6. Bussman
7. Ben
8. Ziggy
9. Lyons
Cycling order
5. Patrick
6. Campbell
7. Ziggy
LLWS from Zig and Ben...I'm sure you made your pick, but I missed it.
AND MAtt needs to pick a NBCS College Football.
ReplyDeleteI had selected Asia Pacific for LLWS
ReplyDeleteLLWS - Any team from Cali or the West
ReplyDeleteWhere are all my points Lyons Duke-E-Vital and Duke play almost every night of the week on ESPN.
Are you giving me the business so soon here? Where's the UFL Fantasorian
when you need him?
look up mark - i already picked TCU for non-BCS football.
ReplyDeletebrian - don't say i didn't warn you about trusting mark's absurd 'power rankings' for DA ZONE. i really think we should wait until the FFL draft to pick those teams - it would spice things up and besides, how can i choose between all of your craptacular teams when i don't even know who is on your roster?
