As I said before the draft. There will be 3 PGA non-Major's on the schedule and 3 WTennis non-majors on the schedule. Here are my criteria, in order of importance, for selecting a featured non-major: 1) Televised on a real network (Sony is only on the Golf Channel); 2) an actual non-gimmicky tournament (so the field isn't artificially contracted); 3) Spacing. I'm trying to have one event a month through the PGA champioship, and similar spacing with tennis; 4) Large purse; 5) Total disregard for the FedEx Cup.
The limit on number of golf and tennis tourney's is necessary because otherwise these two sports would swamp everything else.
So, the list:
PGA
Buick Invitational - Feb. 15-18 (Televised on TGC/CBS)
World Golf Championships-CA - March 12-15 (TGC/NBC)
MAJOR: The Masters - April 9-12 (Gonna get this green just like Augusta!)
The Player's Championship - May 7-10 (TGC/NBC)
MAJOR: U.S. Open - June 18-21
MAJOR: Brittish Open July 16-19
MAJOR: PGA Championship August 13-16
WTennis
MAJOR: Australian Open - Jan. 19-Feb. 1
Dubai Tennis Championship - Feb. 16-22
Sony Erickson Open - March 25-April 5
MAJOR: French Open - May 25-June 7
MAJOR: Wimbeldon - June 22-July 5
MAJOR: U.S. Open - August 31-Sept. 13
Sony Erickson tour Championships - Oct. 26-Nov. 1
I would prefer to end the Tennis season with a major, but that just doesn't fit well with trying to have 3 non-majors that actually matter.
Every sport. All year. One league.

I think all golf events should be postponed until after Tiger's return. I don't think the pros would want to compete except against the best and we should honor their wishes.
ReplyDeleteNice try Scallet. The tournaments are fairly and evenly spaced. Whenever tigers dains to grace us with his presence I'm sure he will perform admirably for team E.H. Schnuck. I believ he has one every event on the schedule at least once, so no effort was made to pick tournaments that Tiger traditionally skips...although I thought about it.
ReplyDeletemaybe you shouldnt have used the first golf pick for tiger, but regaurdless the guy is going to get you some points.
ReplyDeleteand by the way, i have decided not to let sleeping dogs lie, my hatred of hermann (over him picking the first kicker in last years ffb draft, instead of the more traditional route of me taking the first kicker) is back, and more fueled than ever.
thought i'd put that out there, fuck you hermann, i hate you.
I'm not too worried on Tiger, most reports seem to say he'll just miss the first of the UFL events.
ReplyDeleteAnd more importantly, the first E.H. Schnuck move of the year:
Drop Utah Jazz, pick up Atlanta Hawks.
Shrewd move here by Dan.
